Injury as they say is one of the occupational hazards in football. It is a situation every footballer, club, coach and fans don’t want to experience.
Manchester United face Watford tomorrow 21st of November and the manager (Louis Van Gaal) revealed that Martial, Rooney, Fellaini, Carrick and Valencia will miss the trip. Although he hinted that Rooney and Martial might be fit to face PSV in their next champion league game.
Martial was injured in the International friendly between France and England, he was subbed at the closing minutes of the game and was later seen leaving the stadium on crutches, Rooney who scored in the friendly didn’t show any sign of ailment but the United coach revealed that the country and club captain is ill. Valencia had an operation and is expected to scale through a long recovery process.
With Martial and Rooney out of the squad that will travel to face Watford, other players will have to fill in the gap to impress the fans and coach and possibly bring back the important three points.
Depay will definitely feature in the game and most people assume that he might play the striking position since Wilson isn’t fit to play 90 minutes of football. Herrera will also feature since Rooney is out, and I expect Jesse Lingard who has been impressive so far, to keep his place in the first team.
Schneiderlin will find his way into the first team squad again and will partner will Schweinsteiger in the central midfield position. Darmian will also return to the first team squad after serving his 5 yellow card suspension to replace Young who played at the right back position against West brom.
Smalling has been declared fit by the coach and might partner with his fellow country man Jones at the center back and Marcos Rojo playing the left back position. Although it is unlikely that Rojo will start the game due to fatigue from the international duty with Argentina, so Blind might start from the left back position. De Gea still remains the goal keeper.
