Who believed Louis Van Gaal would continue his excellent record against High-flying Liverpool? Few maybe, but there were many doubts and most people thought Liverpool were favorites. Manchester United win their fourth game in a row against Liverpool with a goal from Wayne Rooney.

Both teams drew their last games and were expecting a positive result from this game but unfortunately for Liverpool, United came out victorious despite their poor display.

The game started in a rather odd manner as the fans were expecting Fast football from Liverpool today, but the game started in a slow and boring manner. Liverpool had few chances in the first half but didn’t make the best out of it. Henderson and Firminho were the closest at getting a goal for Liverpool but they were mostly stopped by superb De Gea or sending their shots wide.

Manchester United failed to make an attempt on goal in the first half for the second time this season. Although they controlled the ball in some areas but seem pretty lost at the final third were they can’t connect fully with each other. Young was injured and was replaced by Borthwick Jackson.

The second half produced excitement as we see Liverpool threatening United and saves from De Gea. Herrera and Lingard had a poor game and were replaced by Mata and Memphis.

Rooney’s goal came at the 78th minute when Blind gave Juan Mata a short pass who then crossed the ball to the Penalty box where it caught Fellaini’s head and hit the bar, the ball landed in front on Rooney who whips the ball home.

Rooney is now the man of the moment, the England captain has scored four goals in his last four premier league games and the fans hope he keeps his form going.

Louis Van Gaal was happy after the game, he although agreed that United had a poor first half but improved in the second. Many think he was right for still fielding poor Fellaini for 90mins because he contributed to the goal.
