Watford-v-Chelsea

Two unfortunate teams met earlier this season to play a sport called football. One team is the current Champions of the league they find themselves in and the other, sigh, were the Champions three seasons ago. Chelsea, Current champions are currently 13th in the Premier league table while resurgent Manchester United are struggling to climb to the top four position.

Chelsea and United met earlier this season at Old Trafford where they settled for a goalless draw. Many people thought United could’ve won the game, others thought Chelsea had the chance to win considering the fact that Nemanja Matic missed a glorious chance during the game, and others thought the result was fitting, because both teams didn’t score much goals at that time, most people even made fun about the game saying both teams might lose.

Chelsea sacked their former Manager, Jose Mourinho who won them the Premier league. Presently, they’ve been showing positives under the management of Guss Hiddink who is trying to fix the “mess” Jose Mourinho made. They have so far moved from the 16th position they were sitting when Jose was in charge to 13th, it might mean nothing to you considering the fact that they are the current champions of the league but Chelsea fans and the Club altogether actually think it’s an improvement.

Watford-v-Chelsea (1)

Last night, 3rd of February, new comers Watford hosted Chelsea and they also settled for a goalless draw. Looking and observing last night performance, one can say the Chelsea team really need more motivation and extra energy to grab something tangible or meaningful this season. Chelsea team played like a fatigue-haunted team, their forward was lazy and blunt; found it difficult to penetrate the Watford defence. Although they were positives at their backline, the combination of Terry and Zouma did everything to stop prolific Ighalo and his partner in harm Deeney.

Manchester United on the other hand had their revenge two nights ago where they thrashed Stoke City 3-0 at old Trafford. They displayed an impressive performance earlier against Derby county at the FA cup and seem to have continued with that performance against Stoke city on Tuesday. The manager Louis Van Gaal who has been under pressure since December seemed relieved after a wonderful performance from his team.

Chelsea will host Manchester United at the Stamford Bridge this Sunday and Many People think the match will be an exciting one, because they want to see if Manchester United can continue with their fantastic performance and if Chelsea will finish the job since they couldn’t convert their chances in the first meeting. Honestly I don’t see Chelsea winning this one.

Can Chelsea beat Manchester United? NO! A draw maybe but I don’t think Chelsea will triumph over United regardless of the venue these two are meeting. Watching Chelsea’s performance against Watford thinking Chelsea will have to do something extraordinary to win United because as I said earlier, they have a weak front line led by the Grumpy and annoying Diego Costa who couldn’t deliver for his team yesterday.

Chelsea Frontline didn’t create much yesterday, they waited till the 60th minute to have a shot on target. Fabregas who was one of the outstanding performance in their previous game against MK Dons, created just one chance last night. Willian and Oscar pulled strings but found it difficult to fire pass the Watford defence. Although the Watford goalie, Gomes was superb against Chelsea, one can conclude that Chelsea weren’t clinical enough up front and will have to do better if they want to win United.

Considering the fact that the United defence has been pretty solid and have conceded less goals this season, and the performance they put out against Stoke city, one can say Chelsea might find it hard to break the United defence wide open. With the presence of Chris Smalling and Daley Blind, and also the return of Darmian and the impressive form of Borthwick Jackson, I think Chelsea will find it difficult to outclass the United defence.

The Manchester front line were all on target against Stoke City, Wayne Rooney and Martial who are currently on fire were involved in two goals against stoke, alongside Lingard who scored the first goal courtesy of Borthwick’s Cross. Chelsea defensive line will find it hard to cope with this fierce front line and I am predicting they will cause harm to the Chelsea defence.

Chelsea may use a defensive approach against United which I think is the only way if they want to savage anything from the match. Again, Chelsea will have to do something extraordinary to win Manchester United.

My prediction? I’m going with 3-1. United will score three goals and Chelsea might notch a consolation later.
