Louis Van Gaal boys steal a win from Manchester City at the Etihad stadium today courtesy of the Manchester United youngster Marcus Rashford.

Manchester United edge closer to the top four position; now level with West Ham on points but are still sixth because of the goal difference. Overall team performance was the key today and lot of players played magnificently.

We take a look at the Ratings.

De Gea – 6/10

Didn’t have much on his plate today after denying Navas in the opening minutes of the first half, although he was solid at the back and kept his composure.

Darmian – 6/10

The Italian was solid at the back today, he contributed a lot to secure a victory for his team, tried his best against Sterling before he was substituted. Despite all the positives at the back, he was a little bit careless upfront; couldn’t time his crosses well and didn’t work much with Lingard.

Chris Smalling 8/10

The England international was exceptional today, despite getting a yellow card which would make you think he will calm down and play “nice” but he didn’t. He held Aguero from the beginning of the game to the very last end. Even when Bony was brought in to make the work difficult for him, he still managed to stand his ground. Positioning, Man marking and Tackles, he was solid today. Man of the match for me.

Daley Blind 7/10

Worked tirelessly with Smalling to shut the City attack today. Was brilliant with his positioning too and also had his eyes on Silva and Aguero whenever Smalling was not in position.

Rojo 7/10

Marco Rojo was exceptional today, displayed another no nonsense attitude in the pitch today, made some impressive movement upfront and his partnership with Martial was a little bit decent too. The Argentine did his best to stop Jesus Navas who tried several times to pass him but to no avail.

Schneiderlin 7/10

The Frenchman’s performance got everyone wondering why he was on the bench all this while. He was superb today, covered lots of ground and made important interceptions and contributed in the attack also. He was one of the best players on the pitch today and every coach would be happy with his performance today.

Michael Carrick 7/10

The Captain was solid today. Didn’t go front much, helped when needed at the defence and made important interception and defending in the box much to the delight of De Gea.

Jesse Lingard 5/10

Made some great moves upfront, tried to link with Rashford and Martial. Lingard also helped defensively, covered Silva and Clichy sometimes and made few interceptions.

Juan Mata 7/10

Was quiet today until the assist he gave Marcus Rashford. Linked with Martial and Rashford too and with time one can see they will fully understand themselves if they play more games together.

Anthony Martial 6/10

Martial was a nightmare for Sagna who couldn’t keep up with Martial’s brilliance and pace. Made some intelligent runs at the City defence and tried the keeper too. He was good today and should be considered unlucky for not getting a goal today after his great display and partnership with Rashford.

Marcus Rashford 8/10

The man of the moment. Scored an important goal today that won them the game. He was amazing upfront and caused problems for the City defence and could have also won a penalty after he was brought down by Demichelis right before half time.

Valencia 5/10

Was solid and allowed little activity on the right hand side. Didn’t go front much and obviously didn’t give Silva space to manipulate.

Bastian Schweinsteiger and Fosu-Mensah came in late in the game to replace Juan Mata and Darmian and did little before the game ended.
