Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United are likely to start with a 4-2-3-1 formation. This has proven to be a winning formula of some sort for Mourinho’s men as it guided to a Community Shield win and a comfortable win against minnows, Bournemouth last week Saturday.

However some changes are expected to be made to the United side that eased past Bournemouth. Mourinho has declared Smalling fit and has ascertained that Paul Pogba will play some minutes in this Friday fixture. United possible starting XI:

DeGea; Valencia; Bailly, Smalling, Shaw; Fellaini, Herrera;Martial, Rooney, Mkhitarayan; Ibrahimovic

Subs: Romero, Rojo, Blind, Pogba, Depay, Mata, Rashford

Southampton do not seem likely to make any changes to the side that earned a draw against Watford and they would still employ the 4-1-2-1-2 formation used last matchday

Starting XI: Forster; Soares,Yoshida, Van Dijk,Targett; Romeu; Davs,Ward-Prowse; Tadic; Long, Redmond

Subs:    Mccarthy; Clasie; Fonte, Rodriguez, Austin, Hojbjerg, Pied
