The Liverpool goalkeeper surprisingly had not much to do in the game, save for a Rashford’s cross which he batted away. His nervy feet nearly put him into trouble though.
Ashley Young and Blind limited him largely to defending. He was able to accomplish that task though but he could help Mane with attack on another day
The Cameroon defender matched Ibrahimovic toe-to-toe and even on the air. Also very classy when he takes the ball out of defence
Lovren was able to combine with partner well to deal with the threat of Manchester United’s attack. The defensive display with his partner yield them a first clean sheet of the season
Mr reliable continue with the impressive performance he has shown as a makeshift Left back. A great battle against Valencia and youngster Rashford. How about Milner as a goalkeeper someday.
Rusty at the start of the match but he showed his class as the game wore on. Had a shot on target which De Gea had to go low to save.

Two great save to deny Can and Coutinho to keep the game at 0-0. Would have been a different scoreline but for him.
Thwarted the Liverpool attacking threat. His excellent tackle stopped Firmino from shooting.
Got booked in the first half but used his strength and power to keep the opponents at bay.
The Captain showed why he had the armband by leading and coordinating the defence well.
Coped with Mane well. Couldn’t do much going forward but his defensive duties was discharged solidly.
Worked his socks off stopping the Liverpool midfield from feeding the attack. 100% interception in the second half.
Complemented Herrera well by carrying out his own part of the defensive duties.
